A comment on the recent show about Transport Tycoon reminded me about the OpenTTD project (an open source version of Transport Tycoon Deluxe) which as of a few days ago has become fully open source, no longer requiring the original game for graphics/sound files.

The full release does not yet support the open source sound files however downloading the nightly will enable this. Eventually (version 0.8 probably) will include the OpenGFX and OpenSFX projects but for now it must be installed separately.
I'm currently working through installing the set and if anyone has any problems getting it installed let me know and I'll see if I can help you out.
