Achron has to be one of the most fascinating concepts for a game I've heard in recent years - it's an RTS, but it's an RTS with time travel, so you can go back in time and undo past mistakes, or take units back in time to fight alongside past versions of themselves. Your opponents can do the same, so it very quickly gets into brain melty territory.

They're allowing people to pre-order now and get access to the work-in-progress game as a way of funding their development. At the moment the only things holding me back are firstly that I'm not convinced a finished game will ever see the light of day, so $30 seems a lot to put down on what could well turn out to be an extended tech demo, and secondly that I have a weakness for games with an entertaining concept which then don't hold my attention for long (Scribblenauts, crayon physics, Gratuitous Space battles in the past year along...)
