Excellent show again, gentleman.
One little thing. Console MMO's. FF11 and EQ Online Adventures are 2 examples of MMO's already out on consoles. Now I know you guys know about them, but they are examples never the less. Now FF11 has been successful. The problem is, we don't know how in terms of Consoles vs PC clients. But we do know how EQ:OA is doing. And it's not that great. Okay so that sort of makes them not look as good as console MMO's but they are console MMO's.
That being said, I know what you guys mean. You want to see a big console Triple-A title attempt. Agency sounded like it should have been that first real attempt. But indeed, what happened to that!?
So is Dust 512 might be the first real one, eh? That'll be interesting.
I was wondering if any of the news and numbers you cited took into account sales by Steam, Impulse, Direct2Drive, EA Downloads, etc?
Won't GT5 have RUF cars as usual? RUFs are basically modded Porsches.
I wouldn't throw 3D gaming to the wolves just yet. I was thinking 3D+Natal might be an interesting combo. Give you 2 quick examples:
* The return of the Space Sim. Cockpit view in 3D lets you manipulate levers, push buttons, even fly with an "air joystick" (make a fist, and have natal interpret your movements), control speed and altitude with the other hand. Plus Natal supports voice activation as well for quick stuff such as "launch ECM". Have a 3D minimap that you can finally understand. All that would work great in mech games as well. Even in something like Eve, you could center camera on target and get a better perspective of the action around targets, ships orbiting, etc., a bit like the current tactical view but better.
* Practical console RTS: have units stick out in 3D and be able to pick them up and move them with the left hand to give orders and use your right hand to zoom in/out and moved around the map quickly. Use voice to manage build queue and stuff while you take care of the action with your hands.
